History of Dogwood Angus Farm, LLC
Growing up in West Texas and raising cattle was great life for a young man but, our nation called and I served as young Marine in Viet Nam. While in the Marine Corps, I developed a strong yearning to fly. To reach this goal, I had to start all over by finishing college. This time as a college graduate, I opted to go with the Navy . . . "I knew it would beat laying in the mud all the time!" I was fortunate enough to fly every model of modern-day fighters in the Navy, accumulating a career of over 6000 total flight hours and 1400 (plus) arrested landings (traps). I ended my career with over 4200 plus hours in the mighty F-14 "Tomcat". See our Barn Art below!!! After a wonderful and rewarding career it was time to hang up the "afterburners" and return to work on my other love . . . Angus Cattle!
Kathy and I have had many wonderful experiences and we have seen the world. We've made so many wonderful friends in our military life, more than anyone can imagine. The Navy has been very good to us but, we have put our "other life" behind us and we were more than ready to return to our roots. We also simply missed our association with the "salt of the earth people" from the cattle industry, and the rural people who are the real heartbeat of America.
We fondly remembered our love for this life style and returned to the farm nine years ago to start our purebred business. This long absence has required us to renew our education of the cattle industry. We are very serious with the cattle we raise, and since this is very much a business and our only livelihood now, we have devoted many long hours to re-educating ourselves with all aspects of the Angus industry. It has been a worthy challenge and from our love for the Angus breed, it has all been worth while. We have dedicated ourselves and our farm to producing the best genetic working seedstock we can. We only breed (AI) our cows to the top producing sires in the Angus industry.
Come and visit us and you'll agree with us . . . "We have some of the best cattle to offer to other Angus breeders". Our farm's mission/vision is to be one of the top producers of certified herds in the southeast, if not the entire nation of quality beef cattle. If you want to improve your herd's genetics with reasonabled priced cattle, come see us for the best in select bulls and replacement heifers. We have an aggressive health and vaccination program with proven high performers ready to work for you.
